Healing Through Creativity
Creating with purpose
Everyone is always in a state of creating. We think. We take actions. We don't take actions. It's all a creation. I have always loved creating through movement. Yet, I have had a body that has forced me to slow down, and sometimes not move at all the way I want to.
Finding space to build a focused creative practice, such as art, gardening or writing, helps me recalibrate myself versus staying stuck. Sometimes it doesn't seem like I am getting unstuck when I choose to focus my actions in this way, but I do. I guess, because it can take time to move through certain things I face, I end up not trusting the process and feel like things aren't moving.
When I bring some acceptance and patience into my creation, I begin learning to trust that my deliberate artistic creations are still moving me even though my body may be in a static state. As such, my brain finds ways to process that which normally comes most easily with physical exercise. Creating anything, even exploring new culinary delights, is a powerful way of accessing healing.
